24 Hours: Divergent Dakar

Senegal’s pulsating, fashion-forward is a city on the move. Exploring its triangular peninsula takes you from dusty downtown streets and crowded markets to world-renowned surf breaks, trailblazing art galleries, and packed nightclubs blasting mbalax beats. No single trip is enough to take it in — Dakar is a city that reveals itself slowly, rewarding those who return. Here, our 24-hour guide.

The Grooviest Grid

It can be hard to know where to find your footing in a city that moves a mile a minute. It’s a destination that scoops you up, spins you around and sends you on your bleary-eyed, bagel-filled way. But it’s this thrill, this don’t-stop-till-you-get-enough, coffee-sipping, how-you-doing-saying, late-night pizza-eating energy that we can’t get enough of.

The Frieze LA Lowdown

While LA was once considered a cultural wasteland compared to New York, that’s all changed over recent years, with an explosion of art galleries and museums, cult fashion boutiques and destination restaurants taking over the city. Tinseltown’s art world credentials were further cemented in 2019, when Frieze LA first rolled into town.

24 Hours: New Ideas in Christchurch

Truthfully, we all know the main reason people visit New Zealand….Nature. However, punctuating a road trip with a stop off in Christchurch is the way to tap into one of the fastest bourgeoning creative communities in the country. Completely reinventing itself after the devastating earthquakes of 2011, Ōtautahi Christchurch is now a hotbed of young artists, musicians and foodies setting up camp. And, of course, beyond the drinking and feasting, there is all that natural beauty and wide open landscapes fringing the city too.

What To Order In Florence: If You Know, You Know

Rome has its thick and stocky bowls of cacio e pepe and primis of crispy crunchy artichokes – in two ways, don’t forget, the Jewish and the Roman. Venice? It's fish risotto and canal-side chichetti, while Naples, well that’s pizza. But Florence, the golden streets laid sturdily as the Medici’s stomping ground (we can thank them for putting the Renaissance capital on the food map), that dish list is long. It should be said that Florentine food, for all its simplicity and deep rootedness as cucina povera, is not as loved as other parts of the boot. But if you know where to go, and if you look hard enough, there’s a lot more to scarf down than the city’s unsalted bread.

24 Hours in London for Frieze

London is calling: Frieze is back. Artists and aesthetes rejoice. It's a five-day extravaganza and, dare we say it, the world’s greatest contemporary art fair. In a city with flair, innovation and creativity, the art cognoscenti come out to play. Though our Frieze guide ventures a little beyond legendary Regent’s Park, you’re never too far!

24 Hours in London for Fashion Week

It's Fashion Week, baby! A time where donning the outrageous is acceptable and not a second glance is given to the bolder-than-bold, the tulle and those gawk-able silks. But where do you go during those runway rests for much-needed downtime? When that glass of natural vino is calling, your taste buds need tickling and you're ready to let your hair down and let the boogie whisk you away, take note of our 24 Hours in London.

The gloobles Gift Guide

If we’re honest, the main things on our wish list this holiday season are trips, trips, trips. We’ve got a veritable laundry list of places we want to visit in 2024 (and a flotilla of people we’d like to travel with), but we realise we also have to be a bit practical. As much as we love our family and friends, not everyone can get a two-week safari for Christmas.

In Conversation with Brian Boswijk of Vuurtoreneiland

It's one of the hottest tickets in town, dinner at Vuurtoreneiland. People stalk their website for months before getting a reservation. And at the end of the day, it's totally worth the effort. Set on a tiny island guarded by a lighthouse and dotted with baby goats in spring, Vuurtoreneiland is truly a special place. We chatted with Vuurtoreneiland's mastermind, Brian Boswijk, to find out all about it.
