What To Order In Florence: If You Know, You Know
Rome has its thick and stocky bowls of cacio e pepe and primis of crispy crunchy artichokes – in two ways, don’t forget, the Jewish and the Roman. Venice? It's fish risotto and canal-side chichetti, while Naples, well that’s pizza. But Florence, the golden streets laid sturdily as the Medici’s stomping ground (we can thank them for putting the Renaissance capital on the food map), that dish list is long. It should be said that Florentine food, for all its simplicity and deep rootedness as cucina povera, is not as loved as other parts of the boot. But if you know where to go, and if you look hard enough, there’s a lot more to scarf down than the city’s unsalted bread.
