Around lunchtime, you can expect to be served Copenhagen's best smørrebrød, a typical Danish sandwich, at Aamanns 1921. Adam Aamann, crowned the king of smørrebrød, has redefined the authentic dish with modern twists. At dinnertime, they serve delicious gourmet Danish cuisine!

This romantic little bistro has such a warm atmosphere that it makes for the best date nights. Its menu incorporates a Japanese touch to traditional Danish cooking, and are not shy about their pride for their selection of wines!

Alouette is an exclusive high-end restaurant that is a gastronomical dream. Their sublime mastery of flavours has rightfully earned them their Michelin star. If you're celebrating, this is the spot to go. 

Hidden away in a 17th century vaulted basement is Aoc, a two Michelin-starred fine dining experience. Their exceptional set tasting menu is all things sublime, and one of our favourites to tuck into.

Nothing much can rival a stellar kitchen and deli hybrid. A place where you can take blue and some fresh produce to-go, or hop upon a wooden stool and tuck in to the daily specials. A quiet oasis on an otherwise bustling Godthåbsvej, Auren's Deli does just this. Gourmet groceries are piled high in one corner, though it's the central, wooden bench that takes centre stage. It's here that the dishes, using mostly if not all local produce, are rustled up. From simple sandwiches, sharing dishes to mighty flavoursome plates all washed down with a glass of wine or elderflower kombucha, it's a neighbourhood favourite. 

From the space, to the food, to the ambience, everything at Baka d'Busk is just perfection. With their very own Instagram page dedicated to their art alone, this veggie bistro makes for one of the hippest hangouts in Copenhagen. 

Head on over to Bistro Boheme for some of Copenhagen's finest French gastronomy in a warm and cosy atmosphere. With their classic old-fashioned dishes and some of the friendliest service, you'll have no choice but to indulge!

Bottega Barlie is a corner-straddling spot in Copenhagen's inner-city Frederiksstaden district, an area characterised by the grand Rococo design of the inner city and the quaint lines of yellow houses in Nyboder, built by Christian IV to house the navy. Beckoning the locals, Bottega Barlie is a laid-back bistro serving Mediterranean-inspired, sharing plates from morning to night alongside an extensive wine list. Order a few plates to share (the white asparagus served with egg crème, salted lemon and manchego cheese is a highlight) and settle in for the evening. 

Drinks on the terrace? Some fabulous bistro small plates and some great natural wines? Head straight to Café Dyrehaven for some Danish smørrebrød classics, or for some more adventurous dishes such as bhajis with peach chutney, sea bream crudo with peas, fennel, and orange, or sardines with sauce vierge. 

This funky Italian bistro-bar is a wonderful go-to if you're craving a night of cocktails and simple yet delicious Italian dishes, like their mouth-watering wood-fire oven pizzas, or their perfectly cooked risottos.

Cleo is yet another dining delight along the chock-block Rantzausgade. Offering a touch more of fancy to this Nørrebro culinary highway, Cleo is the spot for a seven serving feast. Dazzling plates, ranging from sea bass crudo to a white asparagus doused in a baksuld hollandaise, are whisked to the intimate wood tables all to be shared (though, a more laid-back fare can still be chosen on the à la carte). The food is exceptional, the decor an interior designers marvel and the outside terrace a prime sun-trap. 

Venture out of Copenhagen and into Sweden for this wonderful restaurant. Vyn, meaning the view in Swedish, is the perfect name for this restaurant and wine bar. Situated on the coast of the Baltic Sea, feel the serenity and unwind either at the restaurant, wine bar, or book a night at the 15-room boutique hotel. 

Rivalling up there with the best pizza in CPH is Diamond Slice. This low-key slice shop has found its groove in the Danish capital and now resides in two locations. Both equally chic, both with great vibes, and both serving the cheesiest, crispiest slices one could want. Though the toppings change on the regular, you can never go wrong with the hot honey slice. 

When Italo Caffé and Italo Thai suddenly slung down their shutters Vesterbro neighbours hit overdrive with the news that the Italian/Thai fusion would be rebranding. UNO replaced the cafe and DUO the restaurant, serving a concise menu consisting entirely of trattoria-style Italian dishes. The kitchen becomes a playground as the vague menu items listed and scribbled upon the glass counter top - risotto, ravioli or crudo - are there to be amended, dabbled with and altered to accommodate any dietary requirements. The arancini is stuffed with whatever is in season (wild garlic, saffron, mushrooms) and the seafood wholly depends on the catch of the day. The only menu mainstay is the tiramisu, a non-negotiable order. It's the design-centric interiors and the 1970s touches that maintain the air of Copenhagen cool: white tiles contrast the brushed steel counters, the tightly-packed tables are laid with white tablecloths and bunches of flowers scatter the restaurant. Centre-stage is a purple, yellow lamp hanging above the only round, and significantly larger table in the small restaurant. Though, really it's the bar top stools overlooking the chorus of choreographed chaos in the kitchen that are the ones to cadge. 

The ambience is just as much the pride and joy of Esmée as the food. Whilst they themselves admit not to go if you’re hunting for a quiet dining experience, this spot is golden for a fun and leisurely get together with you and your chums. 

The first sight of the infamous Fabro will quite possibly be of a lively queue. This walk-in spot attracts flocks of chic locals for its very affordable, yet scrumptious bowls of pasta. The pomodoro never disappoints!

While the food itself is inventive and unique, what really makes us return to Geranium is its stellar views. Its spot on the 8th floor of FC Copenhagen Stadium means a glorious panorama to look out onto as world-renowned chef, Rasmus Kofoed, rustles up a feast. 

Despite its size, this eatery is immense in flavour and atmosphere. Its menu is inspired by Latin American street food, and have a fantastic cocktail and natural wine selection. The ceviche is to die for!
