This student-run cinema-slash-bar-slash-restaurant is probably the hippest cinema in town. This cultural hub is home to many art and music showcases and has a really great terrace for the warmer months. Their ever-changing menu places a great emphasis on biological and sustainable food, incorporating seasonal produce into their menus.

Amsterdam has a few nice supermarkets - we like Marqt and Ekoplaza - but to get really fresh stuff you either have to hit up the weekly markets or head out on a little jaunt from the city to De Lindenhoff. This amazing farm shop & market is our favourite place to pick up top-quality meat & vegetables. Before you head home, sit down for a delicious lunch while the kids get up close & personal with the adorable farm animals.

Amsterdam is many wonderful things, but a hotspot for top-notch Mexican food it is not. Until now, that is. Coba Taqueria is an achingly cool restaurant serving a short & sweet menu of tacos, quesadillas & tostadas. If your thirst is as strong as your hunger, indulge in any of the great tequila-based cocktails, natural wines or bright, fresh juices.

Sure, we love the clothes at Comme des Garcons as much as the next person, but what we're really after when we visit its location in Aoyama is to catch a peek at the stellar architecture and interior design.

This may sound a bit hyperbolic, but we think that Tsutaya Daikanyama may just be the most incredible bookstore in the whole world. It's open nearly 24/7, so on jetlaggy nights we love to come here and dive in the books!
