Imagine a city where you can ski in the morning, hit the beach by afternoon and dance through the night in a vibrant bar. This is Vancouver.
If wine pairings, cocktails and a killer multi course tasting menu is your thing, then Anna Lena is a must. A place for foodies, a spot for date-night or a wine and dine with your friends, it's fine dining made fun.
This stunning spot serves beautiful dishes that taste just as good as they look. Whether it's for brunch, lunch or dinner, peruse the garden and sip on one of the many cocktails at the bar.
Though it's interiors may strike you as simple, the food is anything but. Inspired by the Canadian Pacific Northwest and driven by the ethics behind growing, farming and foraging, expect a menu dictated by the seasons.
Dimly lit, green interiors and a little patio makes Caffé La Tanna the perfect spot for a glass of vino and some Italian favourites. Small plates and family-style pasta dishes, this intimate spot may be a casual neighbourhood do, but it's remarkably cosy.
Tiny is mighty is how Elephant describe themselves. Ironic given the name, this 18-seat wine bar follows a farm-to-table, fermentation driven omakase experience. From bar snacks, sauteed brassicas and purple daikon with chicken liver mapo sauce to the heartier after 10pm comfort foods. All washed down with some low-intervention wines. Elephant knows what's up.
Welcome back to the vibey jazz cafés of 1960s Tokyo. It's a whole vibe. Records are spun, cocktails are mixed and the food artfully fuses Japanese and Italian cuisines. Halibut is braised with saikyo miso emulsion and caper brown butter, coppa is cooked for 24 hours and glazed with sukiyaki and a saffron salsa tonnata. Add a side of celeriac and you've got the perfect meal.
Though the name doesn't immediately conjure a cosy image per se, L'Abattoir Restaurant's dimly-lit, industrial interior does. French-influenced West Coast cuisine at its finest, if there's one thing you've got to do it's to stay for dessert. The mille-feuille is something to write home about.
La Quercia strips the tasting menu back to basics, in all the best ways. A family style, à la carte, pasta is rolled out daily and Northern Italian dishes are lovingly prepped. Pop by the deli for a lasagne to-go, or a heavenly sandwich for lunch.
Thai cuisine, family-style and a multiple course Chef's Menu–our three favourite things in one. Maenam not only convinces with their stylish interior but also their vibrant Thai dishes. Our personal tip: the lobster claypot!
It's an Omakase experience for sure: Chef Masayoshi Baba rustles up dish-after-dish of small plates, nigiri, miso soup and sweet delights. They just keep on coming, each as wonderful as the last. Make sure to sit at one of the counter tables so you can ogle at Michelin-star Masayoshi Baba work his magic.
A place which attracts everyone from design buffs, avid foodies, to those just looking for a good time. Enter, Osteria Savio Volpe. Designed to be your rustic, non-pretentious, local osteria; expect bowl-upon-bowl of fresh pasta, perfectly-seared meats and plates piled high with the most flavoursome of veg. If you're with friends, order a Lambrusco Spritz and the "alla famiglia" to munch on.
The house of spaghetti. Do we really need to say more? It's everything delicious and Italian in one. Our tip: order the rigatoni alla vodka, a dirty martini, the fried brussels sprouts and a singular, perfectly rounded sugo sauce meatball.
It's all about the seasons; expect the freshest ingredients and the jazziest concoctions. Whether you opt for the roast hispi cabbage or elderflower dressed baby gem, the wagyu carpaccio for meat-lovers and the smoked barkley sound sockeye, it's all about experimenting. So don't expect the same thing twice!
French cuisine is fused with Québécois culture and the marriage is just phenomenal. A four course,Table d'Hôte awaits you!
Another Vancouver sushi spot to add to the ever-growing list, though this one is a must. To say it's intimate doesn't quite capture the three-seat diner experience at Tetsu Sushi. Don't hesitate; add it to the list!
Marry local ingredients from the Pacific Northwest with Vietnamese flavours, and you get this gem: The Lunch Lady. It's Vietnamese street food in with a vibrant, modern and award-winning touch.
