Magnificent croissants and heavenly pistachio and raspberry delights are served in Yeast Bakery. A chic option for Prosecco and brunch or a triumphant coffee and sweet treat run after lunch, you chose!

A sandwich board outside displays a customer review: “Hectic on weekends… baking was good… not quite worth the hype.” Which shows the confidence and humour of this Italian bakery, which serves London’s most-photographed cream buns. The maritozzi are bursting, dusted in thick icing sugar, and the croissants are also injected with pistachio and lemon cream. Plus, there are pizza slices that are actually worth the hype.

Architecturally speaking, Miga is a white-painted, flat-roofed, box-shaped building. Large, open windows hug the entrance and an illustration of cows, sharing the history of Miga, is handpainted to the side wall which corners our favourite neighbourhood bakery, Forno. The interiors are comparably simple: mahogany tables and woven wooden chairs ensure that all eyes turn to the open kitchen at the back. It's here that the recipes, woven into the Miga family for decades, are rustled up as steamed tofu topped with grilled kimchi, ox bone broth and spicy noodles with beef jeon are served to your table. 

The café by the pond in Victoria Park does a next-level soft serve in the summer and excellent cardamom buns year-round. There's also a bakery on Broadway Market brimming with jars of house kimchi and pickles. And another coffee spot on Columbia Road – always a delightful pit stop.
