Don't be alarmed when we say that at the core of Substat are mushrooms; of which the chef and owner has an extraordinary encyclopedia of knowledge on. From pan-fried chanterelles to the black sesame, clementine and pumpkin confit tartlet, this is modern-dining at its best. 

With 105 hectares of greenery, flower beds and trees on the banks of the Rhône, it's time to get exploring. Pack yourself a picnic, or simply bring along a good book and get lost in this wonderful city park for hours. If you have some time, a visit to the botanical gardens is a must. 

Food and design become one at this spot. Wildly patterned wallpaper and lots of art sets the scene for a bistro menu which includes the likes of a "verde" gazpacho, a cod fillet with curried zucchini caviar and a panna cotta with apricot and almond compote. 

Founded in 1921 by Eugénie Brazier a trip to La Mère Brazier is nothing short of exceptional. With a menu that changes by season, aside from the regular feature of a signature lobster stew, expect some of the finest Lyonnaise food. To top it all off is the interior: dine under the 1930s stained glass windows and marvel at the Saarinen Tulip chairs.
