It's a low key though utterly fabulous pizza spot. With flour imported from Italy, and the dough left to mature for 36 hours, Atrevida sure do know a thing or two about pizza. So, if you're in the mood for a cheesy-tomato-doughy feast then head on over. 

We've got to say, Baby Gouda may just serve one of the best tiradito in town. Made with the corvina which arrives every morning, you can just about taste the salty ocean! Served alongside their Siri Ravioli with lemon, noisette butter and dill. Does it get any better than this?

Though you may very well be in the seaside paradise of Punta del Este, Bungalow Suizo is an ode to the hearty dishes of Swiss cuisine. From the classic swiss potatoes and fondue bourguignonne, Bungalow Suizo has been rustling up a slice of Switzerland since 1960. With a stellar wine menu, settle down for an evening on the outdoor patio and soak up the sun. 

Restaurante Fasano is world-renowned for its fine Italian cuisine, and this spot in La Barra is no exception. With panoramic views, gaze at the surrounding landscape before settling down for dinner.

Without the fuss and frills, Fish Market is all about serving mouth-wateringly, good food. With picnic tables outside and just steps away from the white sands and crystal blue ocean this is a charming gem serving the freshest seafood from their open kitchen. Try the grilled pulpo, and order a fresh homemade juice to accompany it. 

Burgundy has arrived in the heart of Punta del Este. Chef Jean-Paul Bondoux recreates his native, French cuisine in La Bourgogne. All sourced from his own farm, this little oasis of a place, rustles up anything from hot duck liver escalope with roast pear and fresh grapes, to a fresh aubergine and orange salad with a honey and tahini dressing. 

If you're looking for a slightly less formal experience than La Bourgogne, although still just as good, then look no further than La Table de Jean Paul. Jean Paul Bondoux has once again worked his magic - this cosy French café is a quaint, garden oasis. Whether you're after a coffee and a croissant, or in the mood for a classic steak tartare, La Table is the place to go. 

Craving sushi? Thankfully Norimōto will come to the rescue. As the first hand roll bar in Uruguay it lives up to all expectations. Bursting with flavour and plated up as photogenic as it gets. A classic staple has to be the trout, cucumber, and spicy mayo hand roll, washed down with a glass (or two) of some crisp white wine.
