If you’re from the UK you’ll be all too familiar with the corner shops and local Londis. The one in Stoke Newington however is really quite remarkable. It’s also the spot for some of the tastiest Indian food. Grab a silver tray of mutter paneer, ragda pattice, chai-spiced blondes and a mango lassi. It’s the lunch of dreams! 

Pop by 107 Wine Shop & Bar for some glasses of low-intervention, natural tipples. Though when chef in residence, Julie Hetyei is in the kitchen staying for dinner is a no-brainer. Her menus change regularly, though expect a dozen or so French-influenced dishes and some ridiculously good puds. 

At chef Ellen Parr’s colourful and slightly kitsch Chinese restaurant diners tick the dishes they fancy on the daily changing menu and then wait for plates to fly out of the kitchen as and when. Everything is bold and flavourful, but if they’re on offer, don’t skip the cold sesame noodles, lamb dumplings and lemon and ginger custard tart.

The design space of Naples native Gennaro Leone is by appointment only. It’s an Italian-leaning showroom-come-prop hire destination with a constantly changing collection of classics, one-off cork lamps and marble consoles. Just off Hackney Downs, the showroom also makes a cool party venue.
