Bread, sandwiches, and freshly-baked sweets are served in the aperitif and dancing den Benelux Bar, behind the people of the coveted address Euro Pizza. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, order a rhubarb-topped granola bar and sticky, sweet canelé and perch on one of the teal stools with counter-top kitchen views.

From the team that brought us Oficina, comes the café bar we never knew we needed. Located within the Stedelijk we now have no excuses but to stay for longer in this brilliant gallery. With a coffee and pastry bar in the entrance hall and a cafe upstairs, FONDA serves a dangerously delicious combination of the finest Hinata matcha, the richest cold brews, and some scrumptious seasonal plates. Go early to nab one of the in-house baked focaccia, the toppings change daily although the pesto, wild garlic, and Dutch sheep's cheese is our current go-to.

Along the Elandsgracht, this cosy Rum Baba outpost feels more like a neighbourhood living room due to its open brewing bar. Pull up a seat at the open counter, chat with the team about all things coffee, and leave with a freshly brewed cup and a bag of beans for home. If you're lucky, your visit might coincide with one of their free monthly coffee workshops.

A local favourite just off the buzz of Utrechtsestraat, this is another Screaming Beans outpost you won’t want to miss. Grab a seat in the bright, spacious room at the back, settle in with a perfectly brewed coffee, and indulge in a spot of people-watching. Stick around long enough and you'll start recognising the regulars – both human and canine.
