If there is such a thing as a perfect neighbourhood café, Café De Linden comes remarkably close. Don't come expecting elaborate dishes or fancy cocktails. Instead, you'll find toasties, good wine, and lots of friendly faces.

This former spice market turned cafe is a lovely brunch spot for those who want more than eggs and toast. Cafe Simon de Wit has a global menu that is available for brunch and dinner. We love sitting on their terrace and nibbling away at their loaded Rendang fries.

Although Berlin claimed it first, we are so happy that Amsterdam is now home to a Factory Girl too. This all-day plant-based brunch spot has become one of the hottest places to be in De Pijp, with a vast, colourful menu that won’t leave you wondering “where’s the bacon?”

Whether you're checking in for the weekend or popping into the vibey restaurant downstairs for a weekday lunch (the food is solid but not mind-blowing), Morgan & Mees never disappoints. It's chic and subdued with friendly staff all around.

These days, most coffee spots start to feel the same, but thankfully not Toki. The killer coffee & terrazzo everything make this place totally Instagrammable. But luckily style & substance go hand-in-hand at Toki. The food, dreamed up by plant-based culinary artist Chef NANA, is excellent, as are the pastries. Bring your laptop or a book & settle in for the day.

When they say uncommon, they really mean it. Great cafes and roasteries are pretty much par for the course in Amsterdam these days, but Uncommon still stands head and shoulders above the rest. With an extensive list of wild and wonderful coffees and a short but sweet seasonal food menu, it’s the kind of place you’ll come back to time and time again.
