Swedish for the 'sun', SOLEN has the same power to brighten up all our days, or nights as this case has it! With small plates to start, - think tiger's milk ceviche, crusted squid with salsa macha - various pizzas and tacos to nibble on, before embarking on the large plates. The food is unbeatable, the atmosphere remarkable. This is a spot that we'll keep on returning to. 

Matateljén's arrival in Slakthus is a delicious addition to the already booming food scene in Stockholm's meat-packing district. Under its new industrial veil, the neighbourhood favourite Matateljén, serves up innovative and exquisite small plates on Rikard Palmquist ceramics. Miso steak arrives on a bed of green glory (think courgette, edamame and fig leaf oil) and Swedish mackerel is nestled between grilled strawberries, tomato and lovage. A jolly good feast awaits.  

Home of roasting, Stockholm Roast is one of the gems transforming the industrial hub of Slakthusområdet. We know that any relation of Bar Montan is going to be worth a mention, and boy were we not disappointed. Deliciously good coffee, matched by an ever-so enticing atmosphere. When the sun is out, sit on the terrace and join the Swedes soaking up the rays. 

Bageri Kompass may be in the suburbs of Stockholm though it's causing quite a stir in the cities vast, bakery scene. Open until sold out (a regular occurrence, especially at the weekend) pop by for a freshly-baked loaf and a magnificently flaky croissant that could whisk you back to the streets of France.
