Bacaro is the younger brother of Xemei, the food is just as tasty though it's the spot for a more low-key, less indulgent Italian feast. Taking all the elements of traditional Venetian cooking and fusing them with some more modern twists; the carbonara is tossed with fish, and the squid ink risotto infused with mayonesa de plancton. And boy it just works!

No matter the time of day when Bar de Pla is open, it's busy. Old-school tapas bar but modernised by its organic wines and funky dishes. With a menu ranging from squid-ink croquettes, oxtail brioche, to cauliflower tempura, chances are you'll want to order the lot. 

It's hard to miss El Bar Pimentel given its huge retro sign at its doorway, not to mention the bustle of the city's well-dressed locals all sipping on a €5 glass of vino. It's cool, it's vibey, and to be honest it's all we could want after a day of exploring. What is more, the tapas is sensational! 

Bodega La Puntual lies down a small alleyway just off a rather touristy hot-spot. Conveniently just steps aways from the Picasso Museum, head to this gem for a glass of wine or vermouth as an afternoon pick-me-up. The charcuterie selection, and Catalan-style dishes are also well worth a sample. 

Bluefin tuna carpaccio, cod with orange and stracciatella, pan con tomate and mussel croqueta. We'll take it all. Especially if it's from Casa Costa. This aesthetic spot in La Barceloneta is where we'd quite happily dine most lunch, dinner and drinks if we had the chance. 

Run, walk. Take a picnic, take a book. The Parc de la Ciutadella is a wonderful urban oasis. While we make sure to pass by the waterfall, our favourite thing to do here is perch up and soak up the sun. 

Tacos, sopes, tostades and a good serving of guac; El Pachuco is the spot to go to for a jolly good Mexican feast.  Not only is the food great, this taquería also happens to be one of the best mezcalería's specialising in tequila based cocktails, mezcal and of course iced cold cerveza. 

Charcuterie, a few nibbles and some great glasses of wine to go alongside. We won't say no! Head to El SET for a good dose of your tapas classics.

NOMAD coffee is the spot to go for all coffee connoisseurs. Labelled as the 'lab' where blending beans becomes an experiment, NOMAD sure do know a thing or two about a great cup of coffee. Head down to their spot 'Selected Fruits' in Poblenou if you fancy something sweet on the side.

The world of wine, or at least in Barcelona. SALUT is the spot to taste away. From food and wine pairings, cocktail nights and the iconic wine casino night, a trip to this dimmed-lit, brick-lined bar is never a bad idea. 

Tantarantana is a cosy spot for tapas and when in Barcelona it seems only apparent that this be on the cards! With traditional beams,a tiled floor, and a candle-lit glow, Tantarantana strikes towards the traditional. Though when the plates of croqueta, camembert frito and calamares come rolling out, you realise that this spot is anything but ordinary. 

The best gelato in Barcelona? It has to be up there. La Campana is the spot for sweet tooth fanatics, their Polvorones are an absolute must.
