On the side of the Montjuïc park and looking out to sea, this cactus garden is a calming escape from the busy city and a great stop on any walk exploring this hillside area. One of the largest of its kind in Europe with more than 800 species from all over the world, there’s cacti of all shapes and sizes from towering pillars to smaller flowering succulents.  

From the same team behind Tiberi Club and the downstairs Tiberi Bar, comes the newly opened Casa Montjuïc. At this cultural centre there’s a forward thinking curation of regular events from documentary film screenings and vinyl music fairs to club nights featuring local live music talent and DJs. Catching an event here followed by a wine downstairs makes for a great evening out.  

Downstairs from the sister cultural space, Casa Montjuïc, Tiberi bar is the first permanent space from food studio Tiberi Club. With its mirrored walls, stainless steel bar stools and low wooden benches, the aesthetic is minimal but clever low lighting and friendly staff ensure it feels cosy. The short sharing menu comes from Fran Baixas, former chef at Mugaritz R&D, while the wine is natural and local.  

On a quiet street in Poble-Sec just before the city meets the hillside park of Montjuïc, this boutique bolthole has a modern tropical aesthetic and a lovely little rooftop complete with plunge pool. Expect excellent breakfast from local bakery Funky Bakers, complimentary yoga and boxing classes from nearby fitness studio Beyond BCN and nice touches like the hotel’s daily ‘Brummell News’ that shares current goings on in the city.
