Perched on a hill near Montjuïc, Terraza Martínez feels like a little jungle right above the city – lush with plants, buzzing with energy, and blessed with one of the best views in town. The crowd is chic but relaxed (think well-dressed locals who don’t need to prove anything), and the vibe is effortlessly alive. Come for lunch or dinner and enjoy modern European classics under the sun or stars. This spot is laid-back elegance done just right.

The 1992 Olympics changed the fortune and landscape of Barcelona, much of which can still be felt today. Case in point: the diving pools on the side of Montjuic with sweeping views across the city skyline and out to sea. Today it’s best enjoyed at Salts Terassa Bar, an unpretentious bar at the top of the rows of seats in the viewing area. Go at sunset and don’t skip the patatas bravas.  

On a quiet street in Poble-Sec just before the city meets the hillside park of Montjuïc, this boutique bolthole has a modern tropical aesthetic and a lovely little rooftop complete with plunge pool. Expect excellent breakfast from local bakery Funky Bakers, complimentary yoga and boxing classes from nearby fitness studio Beyond BCN and nice touches like the hotel’s daily ‘Brummell News’ that shares current goings on in the city.

On an unassuming sloping street in Poble-Sec, this excellent Peruvian-inspired spot serves up a fish and seafood heavy menu with highlights including oysters in tiger milk, tuna ceviche and thai style mussels. The pisco sours aren’t to be missed (both the classics and the twists) and Sunday is a great day to visit with the regular afternoon Pisco Disco sessions featuring live DJs and a guaranteed lively atmosphere.
