The oldest brasserie in Lyon and one of the largest in Europe, Brasserie Georges is a place quite literally steeped in history. Everything about this spot is iconic: from its vast dining hall, the red furniture and splendidly white tablecloths, to the incredibly good food and fantastic ambience.  

When the doors opened way back when in 1986 the Librairie Ancienne Clagahé was committed to offering books of all ages, collector's bindings, manuscripts, archives and photographs. Fast forward to now, and this quaint antique bookstore is still doing just that. 

As the largest pedestrian square in Europe and quite literally the epicentre of Lyon, there is no doubt that you will come across this spot at least once whilst on your adventures. Gaze up at François-Frédéric Lemot's statue of Louis XIV, do a spot of shopping and decide which of the four main streets to amble along next. 

The quenelle is a must for when at Café Comptoir Abel: gloriously rich and creamy there is nothing more comforting than this. It's a spot steeped in history and as one of Lyon's oldest bouchons, it's safe to ascertain that it's somewhat iconic to the booming gastronomic scene. The menu doesn't change, but for once we're thankful!
