The Lourensford Estate has a proud history as a world class fruit farm dating back to 1709. Their history of winemaking was revived and reinvented in 1998 when Dr Christo Wiese purchased Lourensford as a whole. It's surrounded by the Hottentots Holland and Helderberg mountains, which frame the 4000 hectares of land. Lourensford has also been a WWF Conservation Champion since 2006, highlighting its work in conservation and biodiversity.
Stables at Vergelegen, the ever-popular family-friendly bistro-styled restaurant, is renowned for its great garden setting and mountain views whilst offering a variety of delectable menu options to suit all culinary needs during the day. Founded on 1 February 1700, Vergelegen (meaning “situated far away”), has been under the ownership of some of the world’s great explorers and visionaries, each of whom, in their own way, have helped shape Vergelegen to what it is today: a world-class Estate.
