Nearly two million hectares of bushveld stretching from the Limpopo river in the north to the Crocodile in the south, Kruger is the benchmark against which most African safari parks are measured and rarely found wanting. The big five are all here, the roads are good enough to self-drive, and the national park camps run with an efficiency that makes the whole thing surprisingly accessible. But the real revelation is the Greater Kruger: the unfenced private reserves along the western boundary, Sabi Sand, Timbavati, Thornybush, where the camps are smaller, the guides are exceptional, and the off-road driving and walking safaris available inside the national park are not. Leopard sightings in Sabi Sand are as reliable as anywhere in Africa. Lion, elephant, and wild dog follow close behind.
Centuries-old vineyards, Cape Dutch architecture, galleries and wonderful people. There's something undeniably charming about this stunning region.
The Garden Route is South Africa’s most scenic coastal drive—stretching from Mossel Bay to Storms River—where forests, lagoons and wild beaches unfold along the way. Stops like Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and Wilderness each offer their own rhythm, but the real charm lies in taking it slow: long lunches, open roads, and ever-changing views. Best paired with Cape Town or a safari further east.
One of the most scenic places in all of South Africa, the Western Cape is brimming with wild flora and fauna. Into hiking? You're in luck! This is the ideal place for novice trekkers and true trailblazers alike.
