Two of our favourite things, cooking and books, are artfully merged at Escaramuza. Tucked away amongst the quiet streets of the Cordón neighbourhood, call in to this bookstore-café for a bite to eat, and a browse of their rows and aisles of books. 

From sweet to savory, lunch or afternoon tea, Philomene Café is a cosy, little spot in Punta Carretas. Specialising in the European classics, think croque monsieur, cheese and chive scones, and home baked carrot cake, this is a true feel-good spot.

If it wasn't for the sun and bright blue sky, one could almost be in England. Lavender Tea Room is a garden nursery café offering home baked cakes and cups of tea. In the true English fashion, the tea is served just as it should be: in a traditional, dainty cup and saucer. And we have to say, the cake is just scrumptious. 

A classical favourite of Montevideo, Café Misterio has been serving locals and tourists alike for more than 25 years. With dim lighting, a cosy atmosphere, and an extensive menu, there sure is something for everyone.
