Chile
in South America

The world's longest country runs from the driest desert on earth to the wind-lashed tip of South America. In between: vineyards, volcanoes, fjords and the Andes. Santiago is polished and energetic; Torres del Paine stops conversation cold. The food has grown up too, with ceviche and cazuela sitting alongside some seriously exciting restaurant cooking.

Atacama Desert

Vast, silent and almost otherworldly, the Atacama Desert hardly feels real at times. One moment you are standing beside mirror-like lagoons filled with flamingos, the next surrounded by steaming geysers or endless stretches of burnt orange rock. Days are built around the landscape here, whether that means sunrise in the valleys or stargazing beneath some of the clearest skies on earth. San Pedro de Atacama acts as the main base, though the true appeal lies far beyond the village itself. Remote and dramatic, this is a place that leaves a lasting impression.

Patagonia

We don’t care when it is, but you absolutely must visit Patagonia at least once in your life. Ride horses across a rugged landscape, relax in thermal baths and kayak around the fjords. It is paradise for those who love nature.
