South of Broad

shop

This gourmet specialty cheese shop is tucked away on a beautiful leafy street South of Broad. It's the ideal place to pick up all of your picnic accoutrements before heading to White Point Gardens.

Blind Tiger

The French Quarter

drinks

‘The separation of church and state’ takes on a whole new meaning at this iconic bar wedged happily between Church Street and State Street. Though it may look like a pub on first glance, it only gets livelier as the hours stretch on. Don’t be surprised if you see a debutante being hoisted over the back wall in her white gown after her coming out ball.

Le Chambertin

The French Quarter lunch

breakfast

Wandering the streets of Charleston, you can hardly turn a corner without stumbling across a handsome house or charming restaurant. One of the cutest little discoveries we ever had was Le Chambertin, an authentic French cafe and grocer.

Mrs. Whaley's Garden

South of Broad activity

culture

Open on most Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons - or 'by happenstance', in typical Charleston fashion - Mrs. Whaley's garden is a charming private garden designed by Loutrel W. Briggs in 1942. Mrs. Emily Whaley, who commissioned the garden all those years ago, wrote a captivating memoir, Mrs. Whaley and Her Charleston Garden, that is still in print today.
