With galleries spread across the globe, Almine Rech continues to represent conceptual, and perceptual artists, curating fantastic exhibitions that any art aficionado will swoon over. Pop in to this spot on Grosvenor Hill before heading for a wander around Hyde Park. 

Run by Angelina Volk and Leopold Thun, Emalin is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to elevating exciting emerging artists and bringing them into the cultural consciousness. Though they began as a nomadic exhibition programme, Thun and Volk opened their permanent gallery space in Shoreditch in September 2016 and haven’t looked back since. 

Showcasing works from some of the most influential artists of our time, Gagosian Gallery specializes in contemporary and modern art. Find anything from established names to emerging talents, from photography to sculptures. A must-visit for design afficionados.

Unassuming. Shapeshifting. Powerful. Ginny on Frederick is the kind of place where dreams are made and stars are born. Housed in a former Clerkenwell shop, this pioneering gallery helps bring the best of the burgeoning art scene to the eyes of the public. If you’re into art – even a little – Ginny on Frederick is somewhere you simply must go.

Want to rub elbows with the coolest of the cool? Head to Hales Gallery. This fantastic contemporary art gallery is owned by Paul Hedge and Paul Maslin and has been a focal point for artists and collectors for decades. After first opening in 1992 in Deptford, Hales moved to the Tea Building in the heart of Shoreditch in 2004. 

We adore this wonderful Peckham gallery for its top-notch programming and dedication to fostering emerging talent in the art world. From striking solo exhibitions to powerful group presentations, the roster of shows at Hannah Barry Gallery is pretty fantastic. Come by the gallery (entrance is free!) to see what’s new and interesting. 

Whether you're in the market for works by a more established artist or looking to be inspired by someone up and coming Hauser & Wirth always has something worth seeing. Through some humble-looking black painted doors in Clerkenwell is the emporium of art and design that is Hollybush Gardens. The temporary exhibitions are remarkably curated and simultaneously interdisciplinary. Pop by for a performance or lecture, and swing by the shop before you leave. You're sure to find a book you never knew you needed. 

Find them in Athens, and Londoners rejoice as Hot Wheels has made it to the artistic centre of London! Within one of Bloomsbury's old town houses find exceptional curations of contemporary works from a gallery that is paving the way. 

Bringing the culture and art of Japan to the streets of Kensington, Japan House showcases some of the very finest Japanese works and design. Spread across three floors, marvel at the incredible design, browse the exhibitions, before sitting down for an iced matcha at the in-gallery bar, The Stand. 

This wonderful contemporary art gallery also has a New York location that we love to visit whenever we're in town. But really, our hearts are with the London branch. Incredibly influential in the art world, Lisson Gallery represents over 50 innovative and international artists. Entry to the gallery for exhibitions is free. 

Having ruled the art roost in Fitzrovia since 2019, Maximilian William is a gallery that we could return to time and time again. From gallery space to breathtaking exhibitions, this is a jewel amongst London's rich cultural scene. 

Stuart Shave's iconic gallery, Modern Art, is split across three locations, two of which are in London, the other in Paris. Exhibiting a wide range of artists and practices, we are always intrigued in what the next exhibition will be. 

Set within a five-storey Georgian townhouse, stepping into Offer Waterman feels uncannily like walking into your quintessential London dream house. A beautiful space paired with an astonishing collection of artworks, the temporary exhibitions on show are just exquisite. Catch the works of David Hockney, William Turnbull, and curations by the likes of Jonathan Anderson. 

Soho knows no bounds when it comes to exhibition spaces. Pipeline is no exception. It's innovative, it's broadening the landscape of art and on top of that, it's exhibiting some jolly good curations. 

Adenrele Sonariwo now has Rele spread between three continents. With an exhibition space in Nigeria, Los Angeles and in London, it's safe to ascertain her remarkableness. And with one quick glance at the rotating exhibitions it's guaranteed. 

Sadie Coles is one of our favourite contemporary art galleries in the city. The gallery focuses on presenting the work of established and emerging international artists. Sadie Coles HQ has been at forefront of the Young British Artists movement for years and remains an integral part of the London art scene. Simply want to check out an exhibition? Entrance to the gallery is free. 

Sitting pretty in the middle of Hyde Park, the Serpentine is an absolute must for contemporary art lovers no matter what’s on the agenda at the moment. Check out the yearly Pavilion designed by the most famous architects in the world. If you can’t swing a ticket to their wild & wonderful Summer Party, the free gallery entrance ticket is sure to soothe the pain. 

We come to London for many things, but what we’re really here for is the art. Thaddaeus Ropac, a gem of London’s art scene, is a brilliant global art gallery that specialises in contemporary works. Thaddaeus Ropac represents over 60 influential and emerging artists. Take their names down now, as you are sure to see them everywhere very soon.  Entrance to the gallery for exhibitions is free.

Unit London is a contemporary art gallery nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Mayfair with a secondary location in Covent Garden. Founded by two young artists, Joe Kennedy and Jonny Burt, in 2013, the gallery specialises in inspiring contemporary art. If you’re coming to check out what’s on now, entrance to the gallery is free.

London is undoubtedly a cultural capital, but if you aren't in the scene, it can be difficult to know where to find interesting exhibitions, talks and events. The Wellcome Trust aims to change that by bringing it all under one roof.

This sleek modern gallery is one of the best places to take in an exhibition or browse for something fabulous for your walls. If you're not in Bermondsey (it’s actually the largest commercial gallery space in Europe) and are a bit more central, head for their location in Mason's Yard instead.  Entry to the gallery is free!

Whitechapel Gallery is a pioneering contemporary institution pumping out a slew of challenging, inspiring exhibitions. Over the years, they've shown works from famous artists including Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, so you can expect impressive, powerful shows no matter what. “The artists’ gallery for everyone” is definitely a gallery for us!
