Feeling thirsty, perhaps a little peckish? Look no further than Lady of the Grapes. A wine bar importing the very best low intervention creations supporting female winemakers, pop by for a glass or two of pet-nat and some tasty French bistro to nibble on. 

Part bottle shop, part bar, this place puts a focus on small producers and family-run vineyards, showcased by a team obsessed with good wine. Corkage is free on Mondays and Tuesdays, but it’s a great one to know about on any night of the week as it manages to remain just under the radar in a very busy part of town.

The auditorium is beautiful, with its curving rows of gilt-edged galleries; and then there’s the modern extension with a rooftop terrace overlooking the piazza that anyone can visit. Both the building and the roster of shows (contemporary ballet alongside world-class opera) are a clever mix of modernity and history. Everyone should go to the Royal Opera House at least once in their life.
