Owned by Chris D’Sylva, of the locally lauded Supermarket of Dreams, and with Max Coen of Ikoyi in the kitchen, Dorian splashed onto the Notting Hill scene in 2022. It’s next to The Globe – a basement club that’s been part of life here since the 1960s – and describes itself as a bistro for locals. But since it was awarded a Michelin star for its menu of sharp tuna crudo and glistening côte de boeuf, it’s more of a blow-the-budget date-night spot. Head over the road for sushi at sibling Eel Sushi Bar.

Eel Sushi Bar is a tiny, wood-panelled hot spot from the team behind Michelin-starred Dorian, just across the street. Slip onto a bar stool under the warm glow of the lamps and watch chef Nick “Noodle” Xie (of Dinings fame) at work behind the counter. The people-watching on Talbot Road is top-tier, the margarita is smooth and dangerously moreish, and the menu – a concise ode to sushi – is totally faultless. Expect pristine sashimi, melt-in-the-mouth nigiri, and the odd tempura bite. It’s all over in an hour (the turnover is tight – which explains why it's so hard to get a reservation), but that’s part of the charm. Finish at The Walmer Castle or The Pelican nearby for the full Notting Hill crawl.

This Greek spot has a bit more of a party vibe than Mazi, thanks to a late-night bar downstairs. Here, the Greek salad features great slabs of barrel-aged feta sitting on top of skinned tomatoes, while piles of soutzoukakia meatballs are warmly spiced. There are also dishes that owe almost nothing to Greece such as truffle chips and yellowtail served with dashi, but we love it regardless. A chic space with agave cocktails in the basement that will guarantee a good night.

One of London’s oldest cinemas, the Electric has survived two world wars, a bombing and a fire. It was also saved from being turned into a bingo hall in the 1980s following an outpouring of local support. These days, it’s been beautifully restored by the Soho House group. Standard seating is made up of leather armchairs with footstools, and in the front row there are double day beds where film fans can cosy up under cashmere blankets. The most extravagant cinema experience in town.
