Joké Bakare’s supper club turned pop-up is in part responsible for London’s modern West African dining movement. Now operating from a permanent space behind Oxford Circus, the Nigerian chef is dishing out an affordable set menu that won the restaurant a Michelin star in its first year: quail with yellow chilli and sesame paste and balls of deep-fried rice and coconut dough to the sound of Afrobeats. One of London’s boldest and most exciting tables.

Soho knows no bounds when it comes to exhibition spaces. Pipeline is no exception. It's innovative, it's broadening the landscape of art and on top of that, it's exhibiting some jolly good curations. 

Formerly a nomadic gallery, Maximillian William found a bricks-and-mortar home for its programme of emerging talent in 2019. The work here is all about fostering a mixed community of voices with a wide range of perspectives, and this extends to its regular series of talks. Grab a coffee at Kaffeine or breakfast at Rovi, and then start a day of gallery-hopping here before working your way over to Mayfair to visit some of the city’s heaviest hitters.

Rovi is the hidden gem of Jerusalem-born chef Ottolenghi's restaurant empire. Menus include decadent celeriac shawarmas and lobster crumpets that riff on prawn toast. If you can’t bag a table for lunch or dinner, a breakfast of Iranian fritters served with piquillo sauce and a fried egg is a good substitute.
