It should come as no surprise that one of the most wonderful hotels in London also has one of the most incredible spas in town. Call in sick to work, book in for a few treatments and settle in for the duration. It’s the ideal place to find your Zen.
The Connaught Bar is a not-so-well-kept secret, one of the smartest in the capital for a Martini. At Hélène Darroze’s three-Michelin-star restaurant various butters are presented like beautiful tufts of coral. The basement is home to an Aman spa with a sleek ionised pool. There’s so much going on here that you could easily forget about the bedrooms. But they’re beautiful too, with original cornicing, hand-embroidered bedheads and even a butler. An enduring London grande dame.
Scott's is a London classic we'll never forgo. This cushy, old-fashioned spot is by far and away one of our favourite fish restaurant in London. Order the sole and book well in advance.
We could argue that BDDW just might be America’s greatest export ever. This fabulous brand is dedicated to the creation of well-crafted, timeless furniture. Founder Tyler Hays began his career as a painter and sculptor, so it's no wonder that his designs move beyond simple craftsmanship and into the realm of high art.
Classic British grub is served under the gaze of Lucian Freud’s Self Portrait, alongside a seasonal roster of golden-framed oils and contemporary works curated by Hauser & Wirth gallery. Mount St Restaurant is open for all servings, though its morning menu is worth a shout-out. Asparagus is seared as a side for dippy eggs, local honey is stirred through creamy porridge (a dram of whisky an optional extra) and the open-faced omelette Arnold Bennett is served with an indulgent glazed, golden top – best paired with the signature breakfast martini.
