This family-owned pastry shop is worth a visit for the interior design alone. That being said, their pastries are pretty damn good too. They have a fantastic selection of French & Dutch patisserie, but their (typically Dutch) kroketten are the most popular with local Amsterdammers . You’ve got to do as the locals do, are we right? We thought so.

It may be in a slightly overlooked area of town, but Afura is one of the coolest shops in Amsterdam. This is a great place for finding a beautifully curated selection of men's and women's fashion with a streetwear bent.

Specialising in vermouth, wine, and charcuterie, Bar Copa is the latest venture from the family behind the neighbouring Cafe Cenc. Mounds of salted butter are served alongside crunchy baguettes, as salted fish and meat cuts are served on a plate filled with gherkins, cheeses, and olives. Funky interiors, complete with a vintage, marble bar and chessboard-tiled floor, add to the easy-going, vibrant feel of this vibrant wine bar. 

Helmed by chefs Yoran Jacobi and Moriaan Koeleman, Veneur brings contemporary European cooking with a French twist  to the Weteringschans. The menu changes with the seasons, but keep an eye out for signatures such as langoustine with beurre noisette, whisky-glazed quail with walnut and rich venison, perfectly paired with wines selected by co-founder Bas Hazen.
