Spanish artist César Manrique built his stunning Palm grove home in the village Haría in the 80s, and is now open to the public to take a little peek into his life at home. 

The César Manrique Foundation is housed in the impressive Volcano House residence designed by Manrique himself, located in the village Tahíche. It is very beautifully integrated into the volcanic landscape in true Manrique fashion!

We're aware that when we suggest going through a lava tunnel some eyebrows might be raised, but you have to trust us on this one. The Cueva de los Verdes are caves that were formed after a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. Now you can explore the caves and (not so scary) tunnels through guided tours!

Jameos del Agua can only be described as a serene oasis found within a volcanic cave. It's definitely something that must be seen to be believed - how many people can say they have had a coffee and watched a concert by a lake in a cave?

Scattered around Lanzarote are a number of César Manrique's works - from houses to sculptures to entire gardens. One you absolutely cannot miss is the Mirador del Río, a viewpoint of about 479 metres high. The artist built a little coffee house with large windows so you can enjoy the sweeping views with a good brew!

You can't leave Lanzarote without having been to the Cactus Garden. This stunning oasis filled with the prickly plants is nestled amidst sweeping volcanic landscapes, and is truly other-worldly. It's genuinely a surreal experience - it's like exploring a whole new planet!
