Oslo’s grand old Art Deco power station has been reborn as Sommerro, a glamorous yet laid-back hangout that feels more like a local clubhouse than a hotel. Think gilded murals, vintage lighting, and velvet-trimmed corners that nod to the 1930s. There are six restaurants and bars, from the all-day brasserie with live jazz to the rooftop terrace with city views and cocktails. Locals like to drop in for afternoon tea, poolside hangs, or even a swim in the subterranean public baths.

Wine, wine and no whining. This restaurant is organic in all the best ways. The atmosphere is great and the wine is also, no surprise here, great. 

Craving a day where you lay out, take a dip and repeat? Tjuvholmen Badeplass is your place. The sunbathing and swimming spot is beloved by locals and rests at the tip of an artificial island block. We can’t think of a better place to while away the day. 

Architect Eero Saarinen has converted the former American embassy into a fabulous new dining spot. Creating food inspired by chef, Charif El Messaoudi's native France, the American history of the building, and using the freshest of Norwegian ingredients, the flavours are just sensational - and as is the wine! If we can leave you with one top tip: try the turbot, it will not disappoint!
