Alongside well-mixed spritzes and cold local wine, the kitchen turns out generous sharing plates - think fresh seafood, simple caper-studded salads, bruschette and just-caught fish.

For a fine dining experience blending North African and Sicilian influences, five minutes up the hill from Scauri is Themà, the restaurant at Hotel Sikelia - a former monastery reimagined by architect Gabriella Giuntoli, the local Pantesca also behind the design of Giorgio Armani’s former island home.
