On the wild San Costanzo mountain (Bay of Naples on one side, Gulf of Salerno on the other) stands this dinky whitewashed church, built by faithful locals in the 1500s and reached via stairs hewn from the rock. The church is almost always locked, but the mountain walk and the beauty from outside are worth the trip alone – every 14 May, villagers process from Termini up to the church in a centuries-old ritual that brings the landscape to life.
