A morning in Patmos begins with a foamy-topped frappé at Petrino, the island's central coffee house. It's where locals gather to catch up on the morning's bustle, making it the perfect spot for people-watching before setting off to explore the day's adventures.
A Patmos institution, Tzivaeri has long been a favourite with locals and returning visitors alike. Overlooking the harbour in Skala, this much-loved taverna serves authentic homemade Greek cooking, from freshly caught fish and grilled meats to classic meze made with excellent local ingredients. If you're lucky, owner Yiannis might even pick up his lute before the night is over.
Don't let its size fool you. Run by sisters Zafiria and Nektaria since 2001, this little boutique set on the St. Levia Square is one of the island’s most curated boutique, bringing together handcrafted jewellery, exclusive Greek designers and selected international resortwear.
A small corner of Sicilian flavour in the heart of Patmos's Skala, Gelateria Marechiaro is run by Andrea, who transforms fresh ingredients into a changing selection of homemade gelato flavours each day. The scoops vary; there's a zesty lemon sorbet, rich chocolate stracciatella, and the ever-popular panna cotta.
