By Guest is a handy little larder for Cala Rossa, mixing house-made quiches, pâtés en croûte and mini burgers with a rather good selection of Corsican provisions. Stock up on Dumè Cesari charcuterie, local cheeses, Cap Corse and Bonifacio wines, Bastia-made ice cream, honey and canistrelli.

Lecci’s Wednesday market is a good excuse to swap the beach towel for a basket, with Corsican producers and artisans setting up near the tourist office. Pick up regional produce, something handmade and perhaps a little edible souvenir for later.

La Cantina di Cala Rossa is part épicerie, part wine cellar, with shelves of Corsican cheeses, charcuterie, honey and olive oil alongside bottles worth stopping during groceries. The cellar is the real draw, bringing together Corsican labels and wines from further afield,
