Faroe Islands
in Denmark

There are few places we know that feel entirely untouched yet are still relatively accessible. One such place (and a seriously magical one at that!) is the Faroe Islands. A collection of 18 volcanic islands hovering between Scotland and Iceland, the Faroes are like something from another planet.

how to get around

Hire a car from Vágar Airport for maximum flexibility. Stock up on supplies at Miklagarður supermarket in Tórshavn. Be aware of the fee to drive through the Vágar–Streymoy tunnel, especially if traveling back and forth often. Alternatively, act like a local and book a government-subsidized helicopter; available to visitors for one-way, same-day travel at a slightly higher fare. Likely the cheapest helicopter ride you’ll ever take.
