We are jealous of everyone who lives nearby enough for POPL Burger to be their neighborhood spot. This cozy restaurant has a lovey terrace for a burger and some (natty) wine or beer.
A creative workshop and ceramicist Niko June, the name behind aluminium boxes, rubber-sheet vases, and borosilicate canteen glasses, has opened a multi-functional showroom and hangout on Copenhagen’s Papirøen. Built with recycled materials and architect Kim Lenschow’s leftover samples, this fresh cafe is stacked with colourful glassware, thick cutlery, and artfully loaded shelves. Grilled tuna and bean salads arrive on steel plates and coffee is poured into stackable stoneware mugs. Flowers spill out in bouquets across the large wooden, communal tables, and large windows flood the space with light. It's a calm escape from the Nyhavn chaos.
Nestled right by the Copenhagen Harbour lies the cosy winebar Den Vandrette, a quintessential hotspot to its neighbourhood. With a wonderful selection of wines and snacks and food to pair, it is the best place to catch up with friends over some heavy pours!
Danish design and architecture is world renowned, and this is the perfect place to learn about it. The beautiful café is very popular for lunch and has stunning views of the city and the harbour. Make sure to pass through the DAC Designshop on your way out to grab your new favourite coffee table book.
