Oft-overlooked Osaka should truly not be missed. With big-city excitement and small-town warmth, we love it more and more every time we go.
One of Osaka's tachinomiya, or standing bars, there's no better way to round up the day. Akagakiya Namba is the spot where locals and visitors alike flock for a carafe or two of sake. When you're after some pre-dinner snacks order some doteyaki to share.
With 20 taps and a huge range of Japanese beer, this is the craft beer spot to settle down for a pint or two. Pull up a bar stool and make yourself at home; if there's a place to do it in it's here.
This hidden gem will have you feeling like a true local. Known as a tachinomi-ya (or standing, drinking bar), Ginzaya is relaxed, low-key, yet, extremely popular. Join the crowds milling around sipping on a beer, or sake, and nibbling on some sashimi, crab cream croquettes, and beef tataki. An evening well spent!
The space is vast, though this comes in handy when the place is as popular as Takamura Wine and Coffee Roasters. Roasting the freshest of beans, and supplying a whole host of wines, pop on by for some of our favourite beverages!
Quite literally a treat for all your senses. When you step through the doors and enter into the inviting and vibrant hub of this jazz and blues takoyaki bar, it really is quite magical. Unwind and enjoy a sake, umeshu, iced-cold beer within the wood panelled interior of this hip bar. If you get hungry the takoyaki, or octopus dumplings, are renowned for being amongst some of the best in Osaka.
