Centuries-old vineyards, Cape Dutch architecture, galleries and wonderful people. There's something undeniably charming about this stunning region.
Set in the Franschhoek wine valley you'll find the idyllic Babylonstoren Wine Estate. Complete with wine tasting and a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty, you can spend the day sipping and wandering about.
Dare we say, the most picturesque wine estate to ever exist. You will fall in love with Delaire Graff from the moment you drive through the gates. While a stay here is still on our bucket list, we enjoy having a wine tasting whenever we are in town.
This magical 7-hectare sculpture garden will stun you with its beautiful landscapes and views of the mountains. A spectacular project created by South African artist Dylan Lewis which is diversifying the landscape ever since 2009.
As soon as we stepped foot into this cozy, family-owned winery, we never wanted to leave. Grab a table under the impressive oak trees, taste a few (or many) wines and order a cheese platter for the table. It doesn't get much better than this!
Known for being Africa's oldest commercial art gallery, Everard Read spotlights modern and contemporary painting and sculpture from South Africa and the diaspora. Its Franschhoek locations (on Huguenot Road, and a more recent space in the Leeu Estates) offer a more up close and personal way to engage with the programme, operating by appointment only. Keeping a dynamic turn of shows and artists, the gallery strives to expose a huge range of fine contemporary painting and sculpture to a broad audience.
We believe La Bri is one of the most underrated wine estates in the area. The terrace of their boutique wine cellar offers amazing views of the imposing Franschhoek valley. If you have a sweet-tooth like us, don't miss their chocolate wine pairing–so delish!
Cradled between beautiful green mountains and surrounded by a lovely shaded courtyard: we honestly can't think of a more charming way to enjoy a wine tasting. After waking up your taste buds with various tastings, enjoy lunch at the restaurant, and have a wander through the tranquil gardens.
Within the rolling hills, and greeney of Stellenbosch is Lanzerac, one of the many wine estates in the region. It is certainly notable amongst the many. Located within the Jonkershoek Valley, the Tasting Room is a must! Whether you opt for a Heritage Tasting, or Wine and Chocolate tasting, we guarantee that afterwards you will feel sufficiently jolly from the terrific wine, and also like an expert in the craft!
Definitely a Stellenbosch classic you just have to try. Tokara offers some of the best views in the area, along with some of the finest wines. They are known for their Cab Sav, and there's definitely a reason for that!
The Stellenbosch Village Museum is the perfect place to learn some history of Stellenbosch and South-Africa. The preservation of the building and antiques is remarkable and well worth a visit.
