With their own mini empire in Amsterdam, Screaming Beans is an excellent place to refuel and recharge. The baristas here really know their stuff, so if you’re stuck on what to order, they’ll guide you with care and expertise. We’ve set up a standing order of their beans so we can make coffee that’s almost as good when we’re at home.

This family-owned pastry shop is worth a visit for the interior design alone. That being said, their pastries are pretty damn good too. They have a fantastic selection of French & Dutch patisserie, but their (typically Dutch) kroketten are the most popular with local Amsterdammers . You’ve got to do as the locals do, are we right? We thought so.

Waterkant is a restaurant and bar that probably one of the most bumping spots in the city come summer. It is the ideal place to head to when the sun is out! The food has a bit of Surinamese flair, and we always love the Parbo beers.

When the sun is shining, this city is always overflowing with people. On roofs. In parks. On terraces. That’s why, occasionally, we prefer to escape the madness of the city and head out to this gorgeous former farm that snugly butts up against a little canal. Treat yourself to a night in one of the lovely rooms and wake up feeling refreshed and renewed. Or, simply head for a lunch or dinner and dine on some hearty, seasonal fare.

It can be tough to find a spot in the city for big groups – or for dining with children, for that matter. Thankfully, there's always Café Restaurant Amsterdam. The food is solid, and the space is relaxed and inviting.

This cosy popular French-Italian bistro is excellent for traditional simple dishes made with the freshest locally sourced ingredients. We love their delicious homemade wood-oven fired pizza's and they have a great wine list- make sure to ask the sommelier for advice.

Omen Azen will transport you to beautiful Kyoto through its excellent cuisine. This lovely restaurant is perfect if you want something a bit more nuanced than a spicy tuna roll.
