If, somehow, you’ve managed to tire of the old master works of the Dutch Golden Age and are jonesing for something a little more modern, head over to Het Stedelijk Museum. It’s just around the corner from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, so it’s easy to soak up a lot of culture in one go.

Though a lot of Amsterdam’s museums are clustered together in the Museumkwartier, one of our go-to spots for soaking up culture is just across the Magere Brug. Thanks to partnerships with the British Mseum, Centre Pompidou and Smithsonian American Art Museum, H'ART has a dizzying rotation of stellar exhibitions that come through the museum. Visiting on a Saturday? Check out the lovely Saturday market to scoop up fresh groceries for the week.

Escape the ever buzzing, ever chaotic city for a relaxed stroll through the popular Vondelpark. As the largest park in the city, there’s always a corner to take it easy with a picnic or space on the path for an early morning jog. If flowers are your thing, you are sure to be delighted by the park’s rose garden, which is home to more than 70 types of roses.

This sweet little brown café is here to prove that the Brits don’t have a monopoly on the intimate gastropub. Though this is a traditional drinking establishment that’s perfect for slinging back a few beers, they are also pumping out fresh, delicious dishes to accompany one of their unexpectedly good bottles of natural wine. If you’re a carnivore, be sure to order the bone marrow. We implore you.

This student-run cinema-slash-bar-slash-restaurant is probably the hippest cinema in town. This cultural hub is home to many art and music showcases and has a really great terrace for the warmer months. Their ever-changing menu places a great emphasis on biological and sustainable food, incorporating seasonal produce into their menus.

Originally a travelling pop-up, this gallery shows pieces from global artists who may not have gotten the opportunity to exhibit their art otherwise. Their permanent location in Bos en Lommer now houses a collection of up-and-coming artists and has a bar where you can grab a drink after visiting the gallery.
