Owner James Daunt hires the best booksellers in the business so every staff member is full of recommendations. Spot Daunt’s forest-green and Malbec-red totes on the arms of readers all over the city.

Moxon Street in Marylebone is a foodie hub of delights that includes The Ginger Pig butcher (don’t skip the sausage rolls), French wine specialist Le Vieux Comptoir and Rococo Chocolates. Passers-by will catch a whiff just walking past La Fromagerie but it’s worth stepping inside to admire the shelves packed full of artisan cheese. Those not up for assembling their own board should try the toasted cheese sandwich in the neighbouring wine bar.
