Founded in 2019, Marta is a Los Angeles gallery occupying the fertile ground between contemporary art and design, where artists are invited to explore function and designers to abandon it altogether. Its thoughtful, often playful exhibitions bring together emerging and established voices across furniture, sculpture, craft and architecture, with past presentations extending to iconic LA spaces such as Richard Neutra’s VDL House. Tucked away on Rowena Avenue in Silver Lake, Marta is a small but essential stop for a glimpse into the city’s experimental design scene.

Showing that the sandwich can indeed be the main event is Wax Paper where the likes of braised carrots, whipped herb feta, pecan pesto and frisée or shredded chicken with a garam masala slaw, yogurt raita, and ginger chutney are stuffed into crispy ciabattas.
