The lotus-root crisps and sushi-heavy set menu at this spot inspired by a Japanese izakaya draw the crowds. But regulars end up coming back for the jazz nights and DJ sets – it’s open until 1.30am at weekends. Note: this is only a good idea if you’re up for a dimly lit and noisy night. 

Dan’s is a wine, beer and spirits boutique and bar. Head to this place at sunset time and rejoice in their array of wines with nibbles like tinned fish, Perilla olives and seriously good Sourdough bread. A candlelit room, experimental music and cool people in East London will never disappoint. 

This has to be one of our favourite independent bookstores in London. They have a great selection of bestsellers and new indie authors, plus a basement full of pre-loved literary goods.
