Over the past decade, The Surprise has pretty much become THE place to be in Chelsea. This charming pub serves classic British food with a modern twist.
Discover divine rambling roses and wild poetic planting in London's oldest botanical garden, a walled oasis tucked away in historic Chelsea. Enter through a set of tiny doors and it feels like sneaking into somewhere private. On Saturdays the marquees might go up for lucky Londoners getting married here but on any other day there are few places more delightful, or peaceful, for a cup of tea.
There are many great places to get your hair done in London, but Hari's is an absolute classic. Pop into their location on the King's Road or head to Parson's Green for a stellar blowout. We always book Benjamin or Julie for the best haircut, Rebecca for colour, Amy for a blowout and Kate for nails.
A queue often snakes out the door and past the dog bowl at this charming boulangerie-pâtisserie by Robin Birley (also behind Mayfair members’ club 5 Hertford Street). While east London’s bakeries have stripped everything back, in comparison this jewel box of a shop is completely over the top, with hand-painted murals on the walls. Grab a coffee and still-warm croissant or chilled madeleine and find a bench on Chelsea Green.
A long-time fixture of the London contemporary art scene, influential collector Charles Saatchi spearheaded the YBAs – the group of young British artists that included Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. These days, his cool Chelsea headquarters is a great setting for shows from artists such as French photographer JR. Visit on a Saturday to tap into the Duke of York Fine Food Market, which sells lunch options from dim sum to doughnuts.
