We'd bet that the iconic egg-shaped loos at sketch are quite possibly the most Instagrammed place in London. This dynamic spaces houses an art gallery, a three-Michelin-star restaurant, cool bars and a wonderful spot for high tea all under one roof.
Nature provides. And so does Irene Forte Skincare. Truly only the best will do. Irene Forte Skincare is a masterclass on the creation of all things clean, clear and fresh.
Built using the timber of two battleships, this Tudor-inspired building is a maze of mini shops connected by the sort of creaking staircase you’d find in a stately home. Despite this, the scale is snug rather than imposing. The store’s signature print archive (thousands of which are instantly recognisable) pops up on cards and notebooks in the heavenly stationery shop. But as well as whimsy, there are stacks of up-to-the minute fashion, beauty and homeware finds. A one-of-a-kind London landmark.
Competing with big names such as David Zwirner and Hauser & Wirth, Ordovas is a smaller gallery with shows that are just as highly respected. Exhibitions here often look at two artists in unison, for example Francis Bacon and Andy Warhol or Annibale Carracci and Lucian Freud. A commercial gallery with a museum-quality exhibition programme.
What differentiates Hauser & Wirth from its contemporaries is its lifestyle arm. Just a 10-minute stroll from the huge contemporary Savile Row gallery, its Farm Shop stocks organic produce from the Somerset outpost where there’s also a farmhouse to rent and a Piet Oudolf-designed garden. So after perusing an exhibition by Louise Bourgeois or George Rouy, you can pop there to find a secret wine bar for charcuterie and cheese sharing plates.
