Chill & down-to-earth, Gertrude is quintessentially Amsterdam. Though it’s new to the dining scene in the city, it feels like one of those places that we’ve been going to for years. The combination of warm service, a carefully considered wine list & a sun-drenched terrace makes Gertrude an especially lovely place to go for a ‘heerlijke’ bite & a crisp ‘wijntje’. 

When they say uncommon, they really mean it. Great cafes and roasteries are pretty much par for the course in Amsterdam these days, but Uncommon still stands head and shoulders above the rest. With an extensive list of wild and wonderful coffees and a short but sweet seasonal food menu, it’s the kind of place you’ll come back to time and time again.

These days, it’s pretty easy to find a great spot to pick up a bottle of natural wine or two, & we must say we’re pretty thrilled about that. But just a few years ago, it was a near impossible feat unless you knew about OG natural wine shop Vleck Wijnen. If you’ve flipped through this book a bit, you likely noticed quite a few cool, boutique fitness studios. While we don’t want to spoil you for choice, we wanted to slip another in the list because we think it’s really something special.
