When we think of Hannekes Boom, we think of sunny terraces, the dancing reflections of the Oosterdok waters and sitting by the fireplace on nippy days. It’s ‘gezellig’ here no matter the season!
Truly unpretentious, Apollonia is one of the dreamiest spots for a late spring or summer lunch in the city. We adore settling in on their sun-drenched terrace perched on Marineterrein for creative sandwiches, natural wines and delicious small bites. While we like it best at lunchtime, it’s also great for breakfast (from 10:00 AM), aperitivi or dinner.
If your idea of souvenir shopping involves a bottle of skin-contact orange wine rather than a fridge magnet, make a beeline for Zuiver Wijnen. Just a few doors down from Choux, this natural wine shop and bar is run by the same team and serves as the headquarters of their wine-importing venture.
Good luck pronouncing the name of this trendy, spacious restaurant if you’re not a native speaker. But luckily, your mouth will be far better occupied gobbling up the simple yet delicious food. Because it’s a bright, spacious room, it’s a great place to dine with a group – they’ll also do a well-priced set menu for you.
