For local jams, mustards, chutney's, oils, and other gourmet items head to Adriaan de Smaakmaker. This lovely small grocery store is stocked with the best of Limburg. 

Bakkerij Hermans might easily be one of our favourite bakeries in Maastricht. Sample their delicious local specialties; the 'Vlaai' is not to be missed.

As the name implies, literally everything is smothered in beurre (aka butter). Bar Beurre takes the traditional French bistro and revamps it with an ounce of Dutch brown pub coziness. Low-strung lamps hang from the mahogany panelled ceilings and regal, silver candelabras are scattered across the oak tables. On the small but mighty menu are bar bites, starters, mains and desserts ranging from monkfish and scallops doused in a turnip-top bisque to the boeuf infused with anchovy oil, green pepper and lovage. Good food, terrific vibes and, if the food locks you in, some great electronic music on the mixer once the clock chimes 10pm.  

Beluga Loves You, sure, but we love Beluga! The one-Michelin-starred restaurant is easily on of the most memorable spots in the country thanks to its experimental Dutch cuisine.

Still grinding their grain in an old water mill, Bisschopsmolen is a  unique bakery that embraces tradition and brings it into the 21st century. Their homemade bread is the freshest in town, drawing big crowds at all hours of the day.

Blanche Dael is truly the tea shop of all tea shops. With a wide variety of blends (and coffee beans!) we love to stop here whenever we are in Maastricht. 

Boekhandel Dominicanen is housed in a beautiful old Dominican church in the middle of Maastricht. Browse the aisles for a new book for your journey home or ask the friendly staff for a recommendation.

If you're in need of an escape from the city, and let's face it we all need this once in a while, head to the Boscafé 't Hijgend Hert. A perfect place for the whole family, this little mountain hut is a great endpoint to your weekend adventures. Grab a drink in the sun, take in the wildlife, and breathe in the natural air!!

Only a short way from Maastricht centre is a farm in Reijmerstok: this is the home of Brut 172. It is difficult to describe the beauty of the architecture, the beams are exposed, the brick walls still visible, and the colours are kept neutral. Above all, the food is just sensational. 

Housed in a historic château, Neercanne is both a stunning hotel and a fine dining restaurant with Michelin-star status. With exceptional views across the Jerker Valley, the rooms blend comfort, history, and luxury. Languish over a long lunch and wander through the grounds within the private garden. 

Coffeelovers is a full-service espresso bar serving delicious Blanche Dael coffee, as well as traditional high tea. 

If you are on the hunt for an authentic Dutch café, steer yourself towards De Tribunal. This neighbourhood hotspot is perfect for an early morning coffee or a little 'vrijmibo' (that's a Friday afternoon drink for the non-Dutchies amongst us).

Located in the South Limburgse Heuvelland, Domain Holset is a winehouse worth visiting: take a tour of the vineyards, and learn about the grapes that produce some of the most delicious, unique sparkling wine there is. A tasting, is naturally on the cards for after!

From its truffle mayo, to its meatball chutney (Hans van Wolde of Brut 172's special), to its fresh fruit and veg - Eyserhalte deli has it all. Though a little way from Maastricht centre, make an afternoon of it - browse the shop before having a bite to eat at the kitchen.

Harry's marries fresh local ingredients, inviting ambience and stellar service for a memorable dining experience. Situated in Hotel Beaumont, this international brasserie is great for hotel guests and locals too.

Described as a little 'snail house' this is a cosy spot to grab a biertje or two. Full of charm, you instantly feel like a true Maastrichtenaar!
