Tucked away in the Hoge Veluwe National Park in Otterlo, about 2 hours southeast of Amsterdam, the Kröller-Müller Museum is an incredible national art museum & sculpture garden. Founded by prolific art collector Helene Kröller-Müller in 1938, the museum is home to the second largest collection of paintings by Vincent van Gofh, after the Van Gogh Museum, including a fantastic version of The Potato Eaters.
This gorgeous cafe right by the Dom is a perfect pitstop during a day exploring. There’s mismatched furniture, family photos on the wall, and huge slices of decadent cake. Everything is vegan, though you wouldn’t know it. Insiders pick up the verloren brood – a mix of the day before’s leftover cakes – we promise it won’t disappoint.
Cosy up on the sofa in winter and in the summer grab your favourite coffee, iced, and head for the bench outside. The Village has a well-established fan base and many of the people popping in for their morning brew or afternoon pick-me-up know each other giving it a very warm, community feel.
