A real life ski paradise. Drei Berge hotel is exceptional: from its funky interiors, and cosy touches, to its iconic Swiss brasserie, and most notably its ski-in, ski-out location. You won't want to leave this swanky hotel.
The car-free village of Wengen is reached by single-cog railway; this grand hotel has been running almost as long. A 2024 refurb by Beaumier (who also run Les Roches Rouges on the Riviera) kept the sunny yellow shuttered exterior but introduced light-wood accents and mid-century furniture inside. Extraordinary panoramic mountain views from every angle.
This newly-opened bolthole was a chalet hotspot in the ‘50s – now, vintage and artisan interiors echo its mid-century glory (by the cool kids at Nicemakers, based in Amsterdam), with nods to Wales, where The Brecon's founder hails from. With big old views of the breathtaking Swiss Alps, 22 soft soothing rooms and suites boast natural materials like timber, stone and leather with lots of interesting brand details too – hand-knotted rugs by Layered, oversized, handmade pendant lights by Mullan Lighting and double cloth weaves from Pembrokeshire-based weavers Melin Tregwynt. Hospitality is a top priority, with locally sourced food and drink being a big part of the loft stays. Good news too, as everything is included in your stay – from breakfast to dinner and everything in between (read: spa access, drinks and even afternoon tea). Your only task is to unwind, whether through aprés-ski, spa or outdoor pool. And to keep it a secret…it’s that lovely.
Set at the Längenbrand mid-station, Chemistube is a classic mid-mountain hut built around hearty alpine cooking. The menu sticks to fuel-focused staples: crispy rösti topped with Rougemont Tomme, bratwurst with mustard and crusty bread, and warming broth with poached eggs. Wooden interiors and a wide terrace make it a natural pause point between cold runs before clicking back into skis.
A converted cable car station above Crans-Montana with some of the finest views in the Swiss Alps, on a clear day, both the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc are visible from the bedrooms. The restaurant is at the heart of the hotel; fresh, locally sourced food and lots of cheesy fondue. A sleek heated outdoor pool, summer mountain biking trails from the door.
