This hotel's restaurant has a great hearty lunch that you should enjoy on their lovely terrace on sunnier days. We recommend ordering the kaseschnitte for those with a bigger appetite, or something more digestible like the goat cheese salad.
Sitting at the top of the Horneggli lift, this relaxed mountain restaurant is a dependable stop for generous alpine flavours. Portions are large, making it a favourite cold-weather pit stop. Rösti is the regular order – especially with a fried egg or veal sausage on top – but pairing with an oversized salad alongside is the welcome combo break from too many fried favourites. It’s then only a swish to the slopes from there.
Forget the see-and-be-seen grande dames of Gstaad – the mood is much more homely at Huus in Saanen – the name even means 'house' in Danish. The hotel is Alpine to a T with sweet touches of Art Deco, and the team (in their full denim outfits and red rompers) go out of their way to make sure your stay is more about mountain lifestyle. Views are stellar of the Videmanette peak, and because you’re just a touch out of the buzz here, there are shuttles to the town if more noise is what you’re after. This is a place for those who want to make the most of the outdoors – it helps a lot of activities are included in your stay too but it’s also about taking it easy. Say hi to Charly the pug and Piet the Frenchie, the hotel's mascots.
A quieter peak with trails that snake through meadows and woods. In summer, slopes open onto valley vistas (and the best sunsets around) while winter turns paths into snowshoe‐friendly runs. There’s no cable car, but Rellerli is a hot spot for photographers, short hikes, or a brief retreat from busier summits, without feeling too remote. Keep your eyes peeled for deer and bring a camera for the scenes over Schönried.
A wonderful and special family run hotel. With a beautiful property and amazing amenities, a stay here is always a treat.
