Located in the sleepy village of Matajudaica and surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Empordà, this expansive five-bedroom home is the ideal base for a family or group of friends looking to explore the Costa Brava region. Exquisitely decorated with local materials and filled with bespoke furniture, the house is set among lush gardens with ample outdoor seating areas. Part of the Viu Emporda collection, renting a home with this area-specialist not only gives you access to spectacular properties but also unlocks the region with the local team on hand to plan itineraries whether it’s boat trips, visits to local artisans or reservations at their favourite restaurants.

Venture out of the city. In the pre-Pyrenees, just one hour from the bustle of Barcelona, Unplugged has created an off-grid and offline space where you can enjoy the quiet nature that surrounds you without the interruption (or temptation) of your devices. Put your phone in a lockbox when you check in, cosy up in your cabin (there are three to chose from) and enjoy hiking with a paper map to nearby waterfalls, rivers and rock pools or documenting your trip on an instant camera.

In the heart of the Emporda, this rustic Catalan restaurant is charmingly traditional with its stone walls and beamed ceilings. The menu changes seasonally but expect rice dishes, stews and grilled meats.

Located in the heart of one of Catalunya’s prettiest Medieval villages, Peratallada, L'Eixida showcases the best of local ingredients via exciting global flavours. If it's a warm evening, make sure to book a table on the terrace.
